From Sinking to Swimming

It was my wife's idea for me to get a business coach. The business was doing fine financially. We'd been in business for 13 years, turning a profit every year, growing every year, adding people to it. But I felt like I was sinking.

She was seeing that I was struggling so badly out of my depth. The company needed leadership. People were looking up to me for direction and for their livelihood and for their safety. That's where I was out of my depth and sinking rather than swimming.

John stepped in and taught me some good backstrokes and we got going in the area of leadership skills, management, administration of human resources, payroll management. John provided a very efficient, effective, accelerated learning process to get me up to speed in things that are not my background yet are essential to achieving my goals for my company.

I've made some significant structural changes to the company. I've been able to delegate the key functions effectively. I now have people dealing with those things that I was trying to juggle. I hear John's voice: "Isn't there somebody else who can do that?"

Who is John Nieuwenburg?

John is a small business coach and mentor based out of Vancouver, Canada and has been helping business owners from various industries to grow successful businesses for the last 15 years. John is the owner of W5 Coaching, which offers small business coaching services to business owners and entrepreneurs. As a small business coach, John believes in 'teaching clients to fish' so that they may know what to do next time they run into a problem, rather than holding a business owner's hand and creating a reliance on continued business coaching.


Unfortunately, the business coaching industry is unregulated and these days “everyone is a coach.”

Although I was trained and certified by an international certification body, I don’t believe that certification is the best way to determine the quality of a business development coach. Results are.
